Dominique Riddell is known to her Instagram followers as Yoga Poser UK where she demonstrates her flexibility, bending, and twisting while practicing yoga, ballet and gymnastics every day. Mixing poise and practicality, she loves posting cute captions, as many emoticons as possible, and occasionally balance a glass of bubbly in each hand! We wanted to find out more about her in our latest Zakti Activewear interview; what she likes to wear when working out, and what she gets up to in real life!
ZAKTI: Tell us about what you do?
I qualified as a veterinary surgeon a couple of years ago and I am now a PhD student working on muscular dystrophy. In my spare time I love to practice yoga and I particularly enjoy trying out new unusual poses.
ZAKTI: What is a working day like for you?
I spend most of my day working in the lab, or at my desk analysing the data I’ve collected. As I work in a vet college, occasionally I get a day where I get to cuddle some puppies which is a great perk of the job.

ZAKTI: What are your style-hacks to help take you through all the activities in your day?
I like to French plait my hair when I know I’m going to be doing some exercise later on, it’s a great way to keep it smart but functional throughout the day!
ZAKTI: How do you like to keep active?
My number one way has to be yoga. I love it because it helps with building muscle, increasing flexibility and helps clear your head. I have recently started to get into open water swimming and did a relay race with my workmates which was a really fun way to workout, especially on a lovely sunny day!
ZAKTI: What do you like to wear when you’re being active?
When I am doing yoga or popping to the gym I will wear yoga leggings (the crazier the pattern the better) and a cropped sports top. However I also love wearing a wetsuit when I’m feeling crazy enough to go for a dip in the River Thames!
ZAKTI: What are your three tips to keeping fit and healthy?
Choose an exercise you find fun so it doesn’t feel like such a chore! Although you may be keen to start at full speed straightaway, it’s important to build up the intensity of your workouts/yoga practice slowly, as an injury from pushing yourself too far can set you way back. Also make sure you get enough sleep!

ZAKTI: What’s your weekend style?
If I’m going out somewhere then skinny jeans, an elegant top with some kind of detailing, my fave black handbag and some little black heels. If I’m just mooching around then some yoga leggings and an oversized top.
ZAKTI: What do you do to unwind and stay balanced?
A good old yoga session, reading a book especially just before bedtime or playing with my pet rats (they are super cute and fun, trust me).
ZAKTI: Which influencers do you admire? Yoga Poser UK: I love Niomi Smart, she is such an inspiration for all things healthy living. I especially enjoy her “What I eat in a day” videos and her vlogs showing all the amazing places she travels to.

ZAKTI: We spotted you wearing our Zakti gear, what did you like about this look?
Nearly all of my yoga gear is from Zakti actually! I love the material of the leggings, they’re so comfy and perfect for working out in or just chilling in. You also have some really original designs for their sports bras with gorgeous strappy backs.
ZAKTI: What’s next for you?
I usually do yoga in my living room on my own using YouTube video lessons, but I’m thinking of joining a yoga class to change things up a bit. Also I want to start making time to do more meditation and mindfulness exercises to help relax my mind after a busy day.
