City Fash Gal aka Paula Fry works in the city in investment banking but it is her background in vintage fashion that makes her world so appealing. Her Instagram account serves as a daily fashion parade where she injects serious style into the corporate world. Whether she is up early or late, she’s a poster girl for taking her busy life and owning it while staying keeping fit and healthy. Here’s our low down with City Fash Gal.
ZAKTI: Tell us about what you do?
Paula: I’ve spent most of my career in investment banking in the city and now work for a fin tech firm.
ZAKTI: What is a working day like for you?
Paula: It’s an early start at 5am – I need to get up, ready and off to London from my home in Kent. My days are super varied – I could be visiting trading floors, having client meetings over a lunch or sat at my desk answering calls, emails and scheduling meetings with my clients. I leave around 6pm to start my journey home.
ZAKTI: What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
Paula: That’s so hard to answer! I’m a complete fashion addict. I love vintage, high street and designer so my wardrobe is a complete mish-mash.
I love my Chanel handbags – totally loved and looked after and used all the time.
I love my vintage YSL velvet tassel skirt.
And I adore my Sadie denim boiler suit from Donna Ida – there you go, a total mix! !
ZAKTI: What are your style-hacks to take you through all the activities in your day?
Paula: Comfortable shoes along with your heels! I always carry some funky trainers for comfort whilst running around the city along with my heels for meetings – a pair of shoes can instantly change the way you feel and they give you a huge shot of confidence.
ZAKTI: How do you like to keep active?
Paula: Besides running around London, I manage to see a trainer 3 times a week – twice after work and once at the weekend. It’s vital to keep my body and brain functioning despite me moaning about going!
ZAKTI: What do you like to wear when you’re keeping fit and healthy?
Paula:I love my Zakti leggings – comfortable to wear, colourful super stylish and they hold everything in!!
ZAKTI: What are your three tips to keeping fit and healthy?
1 water water water
2 move – make sure you do some weights
3 eat healthy but let your hair down a couple of days a week otherwise it’s never sustainable
Oh and more water !
Not a normal #ootd for me – no time to post this morning and flown in from work to get straight back out to the gym. I have a weeks worth of Greek food, cocktails and nil movement to work off! Lovin my @zakti_active gym wear – best ever leggings! Even if I feel slightly unfit, I still look the part ! 💪 #gym #zaktiactive #pt #monday #gymlife #workout #workoffthosecocktails #fashion #gymfashion
ZAKTI: What’s your weekend style?
Paula: If I’m at home, it’s a jersey jumpsuit whilst I’m laying on the sofa being a bed for my chihuahuas! If I’m shopping, its denim and a tee or funky top. If I’m out for dinner then it will be casual but glam depending on where we are going. I love a sharp jacket and some heels.
ZAKTI: What do you do to unwind and stay balanced?
Paula: During the week I try and do as little socialising as possible so I get my sleep – I need to be in bed by 9pm!! But I love to let my hair down more at weekend. A sneaky cocktail after work on Fridays with the girls is a great stress release!
ZAKTI: Which influencers do you admire?
Paula: My total style crushes are Donna Ida Thornton (for her laid back but glam look), Fanny Moizant of Vestiaire ( for her overall doesn’t try too hard French-ness but looks amazing) Jenna Lyons (for the way she throws together the unexpected and smashes it) and Iris Apfel (bonkers bonkers bonkers)
ZAKTI: We spotted you in our Zakti Active gear, what did you like about this look?
Paula: I feel a look ready for action – it’s all mind over matter sometimes especially to get me to the gym
ZAKTI: What’s next for you?
Paula: More of the same – although I have a secret hankering to write a book in my spare time so watch this space!
