I’m an accessories designer but I also write too. I have a book out which is my colourful guide to London “Its A London Thing”. . Everything I do revolves around colour! I love it!
ZAKTI: What is a working day like for you?
It’s always varied according to what project I’m working on but I like to divide my time with visiting exhibitions and events to keep my mind active outside of my own practise. I’m really into discovering other artists work on show so I stop off to visit galleries as I cycle around town on my own missions. My instagram is an extension of my book with city recommendations.
ZAKTI: What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
I’m very lucky to have been given some beautiful archive pieces by New York designers ThreeAsFOUR. They are pure genius with a futuristic vision, always embracing new technology. I really wish they had done the costumes for Bladerunner. Check out the silicon dress they just created for Bjork’s cover of W Magazine.
ZAKTI: What are your style-hacks to take you through all the activities in your day?
I tend to do some form of fitness on a daily basis so I live in a sports bra and leggings! In this weather it’s all about layering so you can be warm out on a bike and then cool when stripping off for a spin class. I build up base layers with separate arm warmers under zipper jackets for quick access because I’m always dashing around. I really like Rapha tanks because they work for keeping warm or cool and look nice if you end up going out!
ZAKTI: What do you like to wear when you’re being active?
Good leggings are key for me. I like a high waistband so I’m always covered in any contortions and a fabric that’s non-slippy for balancing!
ZAKTI: What are your three tips to keeping fit and healthy?
1) Always keep on the move, such as taking stairs instead of the lift and make sure not to sit at your desk for too long. The Apple Watch has a brilliant alert to stand up once every hour which really helps to not get stuck!
2) Don’t get complacent in a routine. Mix things up to wake up your body. Challenge yourself to try new activities or go faster or stronger in the disciplines you like. I recently moved up a pace-group in running and I’ve become so much quicker by giving it a go.
3) Make sure to connect mind to muscle. Its a really easy trap to go to a workout and be preoccupied with thinking about what’s happened in the day. The activity won’t count if your’e not focused on feeling the physicality of the movements. Channel into the present moment and forget your hang-ups for the duration.
ZAKTI: What’s your weekend style?
As I’m always in activewear I try to be a bit more feminine! Skirt and heels for a night out dancing is the best way to celebrate the legs you’ve been sculpting!
ZAKTI: What do you do to unwind and stay balanced?
Baths are luxury. Its a classic! Candles, scents, bubbles, soak, scrub, cleanse, moisturise! A full body M.O.T is the best way to check-in with every muscle and reward it for all the hard work! I love something with a lasting aroma that stays on your skin like Rituals or Sanctuary. Essential oils are essential!
ZAKTI: We spotted our Zakti gear, what did you like about this look?
I’m obsessed with spectrums so I love the irredescent fabrics and prints from the cap to the gloves! Its also crucial to be high-vis in this season so the Zakti reflective jacket and headband are my running kit staples.
